An Amazing Story of Observing Shmita in Israel

From a date farm in Israel

Translation:

Hi, my name is Chezi, and I've been taking care of this land for six years now. For this year, we were given the merit of observing the Shmitah year, and to our surprise, we discovered something really astonishing. I'd like to show it to you.

We didn't touch these trees at all, except to water them. We didn't even touch the grass growing around it.

There are 25 clusters of dates here, more or less, and look how big these fruits are. It's amazing.

Based on what happened here this year, I think we have to change our whole conception about raising dates and in our understanding of how to relate to the tree. We have very large fruits, yet we did nothing for them!

Q. Were there experts who came to see this phenomenon?

A. Experts came, and continue to come, on a regular basis, to try to understand how this can happen. Because in general, a palm tree that is not touched gives forth olive-sized dates, dates that are very small.

And we can continue on to another tree, and another tree, and we see that the size of the fruits is – very nice, very nice.

Fruits of very high quality, the best quality it could be - without blisters, and very high sugar levels. The fruit is really special – premium.
